Becky Weiss

Board Secretary
Retired Educator

Becky Weiss comes from a lineage of gentlemen farmers and ministers: outdoor folk who like to dig in the dirt and marvel at creation. Her formative years were spent in Colorado at the foot of Pikes Peak. The school of “Lots of unfettered time in the outdoors spent with a community of curious kids” nurtured her love of our planet. Becky studied Natural Sciences and Education at the University of Colorado and received her masters in Environmental Administration from Antioch New England. She has taught for over thirty years in the public and private sectors.

She lives in Manitou Springs where she: plays with her husband, Bill, marvels at being the mother of two grown and totally stellar kids, Ariel and Thad, swims, does yoga, walks in the mountains, gardens, watches birds, reads, writes, rides bikes, sings with a group of women to folks who are dying, volunteers with Restorative Justice and West Side Cares. Serving on the board of the Catamount Institute is a privilege and honor as it embodies Becky’s passion for children, her love of the planet, and her belief that working/playing in the outdoors creates invested stewards.

Vincent Prins

BBVA Compass Bank

With America shifting towards technology, media, and seemingly spending the vast majority of time indoors, some people question what a meaningful life entails and look for ways to escape into nature.  Vincent Prins’s passion for the outdoors brought him in 2015 from the hot climate of East Texas to the four-seasons of Colorado Springs where he and his family could spend more time outside comfortably.  Monday through Friday, you can find him stuck behind three computer monitors as a Commercial Credit Analyst at BBVA Compass Bank, but most weekends you might bump into him anywhere without telephone poles.  Vincent, his wife, and four young kids, love tent camping, boating, rock scrambling, hiking, stargazing, and everything in-between.  Out of his thirst to advocate children to unplug from electronic gadgets and create new experiences, he joined the Catamount Institute Board of Directors.  Catamount Institute and Vincent both find that children and adults have more fun in nature and the experiences there will hopefully lead to richer, more well-rounded, fulfilling lives.  So if you stumble upon his family camping, drop by and catch a Frisbee or grab a bite of one of their personal camp food inventions.
