The Tucker T. Connally Fund
The Tucker Connally Fund was created to honor Tucker's legacy with a mission to make a difference in the lives of our youth. Tucker often asked, "how do you want to be remembered?' A question his mother, Judy considered in the establishment of the Tucker Connally Fund.
This fund at Catamount Institute is used to support an annual youth camp called "Tucker's Trails" that promotes a passion for the outdoors and teaches our children to be our future leaders in protecting our environment.
All funds are used to keep Tucker's dream alive and to be available to always support the youth of our region in learning the importance of our natural environment.
Tucker's Trails - Teaching Environmental Awareness
Tucker's Trails is a camp designed to offer an enriching outdoor experience for middle school students. Science teachers who are experienced outdoorsmen lead the camp which is held at Catamount Institute's beautiful mountain setting on the north slope of Pikes Peak.
Students participate in activites that promote a connection with the natural world. These activities allow students time to learn survival skills and set up camp. They hike along the scenic trails and develop friendships and successful team skills. Tucker's Trails provides an opportunity for students to enjoy the outdoors and develop a natural leadership in the crusade to protect our environment.
