Samhain Spirit Trail

October 28 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Bring your feisty pixies and haunting ghouls! It’s time for Sun Mountain Spring’s fifth annual Samhain Trail! The veils are thin and we are celebrating in old world fashion with a guided walk through the mystical woods. This year Catamount Institute has joined in on the fun, bringing their nature-loving environmental stewards into the celebrations with proper respects!

Children and their taller human counterparts will enjoy the mysteries and gifts of the season with this celebration honoring the earth, traditions, and community.

Along the path, you’ll find enchanted storytellers and bards, ready to help you see the coming year, send wishes to the otherworld, hear of the fairies, and hear about or participate in cultural traditions from Europe and the Americas. Every stop will have a gift for each child to take home with them (bags provided). Costumes are encouraged, the more nature-based, mythical and fantastical, the better! You are trying to fit in the with spirits of the dead and the land who are wandering at this time, after all.

After the trail walk, we will enjoy desserts and traditional sweets, brought by our participants, music and warm drinks by the fire.

This is a community event! We expect all participants to contribute in order to make this fun event a wonderful experience for all. We ask that everyone bring the following, as their means allow:

$5/Child 3 and over donation – RSVP below
Dessert / sweet treat item (homemade even better!)
A flashlight (or lanterns are great for ambiance, for adults only)
Warm layers
Ancestor pictures/items for the ofrenda/altar (optional)

We expect an adult from each party to remain with your respective little ones on the walk.

Please also participate or contribute to our pumpkin-carving event on Friday, Oct 27th. We provide the pumpkins and LED tealights, you provide carving! ($10 donation per pumpkin) This gives our trail more ambiance, gets you a pumpkin with time still for Halloween, and gets us more funds to give your kids gifts along the path. More information will be posted on the separate pumpkin carving event.
