Graham Russell, former Executive Director of Connected Organizations for a Responsible Economy (CORE), is visiting the Pikes Peak region to speak at Catamount Institute's Pikes Peak Sustainable Business Network member meeting on Thursday, December 16 at The Cliff House from 7:30 am - 9:00 am.
According to Russell, there's a lot of noise currently about Clean Tech as the future of a "new, clean American economy" and a major driver of job creation. However according to Russell, "we seem to think that it's the job of government to use public funds to create this new economy by funding the development of clean technologies through grants, subsidies and other handouts." Russell believes that government should play a much different role and that sustainability-based thinking in the business community will be the primary driver of innovation, clean technologies and job creation.
For several years Russell was a Board Member - and later Executive Director - of CORE, a Denver based non-profit dedicated to the promotion of more environmentally and socially responsible business practices.
Russell has a new role as Site Moderator of SustainableOfficer.com, a revolutionary online peer-to-peer information exchange for those involved in the process of creating and implementing sustainability initiatives in their organization. SustainableOfficer.com is a venture of ColoradoBiz Magazine, Colorado's leading business publication.
Catamount Institute's Pikes Peak Sustainable Business Network invites the public to attend this Member Meeting at The Cliff House in Manitou Springs from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Cost is $16 for PPSBN members and $20 for non-members and includes a continental breakfast.
