Congratulations to all of our Young Environmental (YES) Club members! They are wrapping up another awesome semester of YES Club. On Saturday, April 8th, the clubs all alighted on the Colorado College campus to share their research and action projects with their fellow scientifically-minded 4th and 5th-grade cohorts. The projects (and their student creators) were fantastic! The uniting theme for this semester’s study was aeroecology, the study of how airborne life forms utilize and interact with other living and non-living components of the lower atmosphere. The students’ explorations ranged from air quality to bird adaptations to habitat restoration to organic gardening to teaching younger kids about the importance of bird counts and everywhere in between! They enjoyed a presentation by Dr. Brian Linkhart, one of the foremost researchers on flammulated owls, and end the morning with a tour of the Colorado College campus. What a fantastic day!
