Duties and Responsibilities

Be a guest speaker for our 4th and 5th-grade environmental after-school clubs, sharing science content knowledge with elementary school students, helping them become the future protectors of the earth!

Travel to each of our after-school clubs to teach a lesson as a guest speaker.  Catamount Institute will provide training for you in teaching skills and lesson content.  The Fall 2018 semester theme is Aquatic Ecosystems and the Spring 2019 theme is Aero-ecology. Each lesson will be 1.5-2 hours long. Being a guest speaker is an excellent opportunity to hone your teaching skills, as you get to teach the same few lessons multiple times, getting feedback from the licensed classroom teachers as well as Catamount Institute’s staff. This gives you the opportunity for reflection and to adjust your teaching approach.  Through these lessons, young students will gain science knowledge and learn more about their relationship with the earth and how they can protect it.  Mileage reimbursement is offered for use of personal vehicles. Transportation can most often be organized in Catamount Institute vehicles if you are eligible for training and insurance.
